Welcome! My name is Dr. Russell Veirs. Please read more about my musical background on my biography page (linked at the top).
In addition to performing, I have a strong passion for teaching! I am experienced in working with students of all ages and ability levels, from beginners to college students majoring in music performance. The foundation of my teaching is based in producing a good tone, playing with proper technique, and developing one’s musicianship to confidently express themself through music performance. I tailor lessons to the individual student based on their learning style, their own musical goals, and their current level of playing. I incorporate music theory into my lessons as well, necessary for understanding how to read music and also for making musically informed decisions during performance. Whether you have an old saxophone in the closet and want to learn some simple tunes, or you are preparing for college auditions and beyond, I am happy to work with you on your goals.
